All About Dubai Expo 2020
Dubai is setting the stage for an international event in the coming year. It’s the Dubai Expo 2020. The schedule of the Expo was from 20th October 2020 to 10th April 2021. But, the event has been rescheduled from October 1 2021 to March 31, 2022. This was due to the spread of the pandemic Covid 19. However, for marketing and branding purposes the name Dubai Expo 2020 will be kept intact. The Bureau of International des Expositions (BIL) has selected Dubai as the host in November 2013.
Features of an Expo
An Expo is a world business event. It showcases business products to the world. Many countries participate in this extravagant event. The maximum duration of an Expo is 6 months. Expo has a universal theme applying to humanity. This theme has different sub-themes. Countries put forth a bid to be the host of the fantastic event.
Attributes of Expo 2020
Dubai Expo has the theme: “Connecting Minds, Creating Future.” In addition, it has three sub-themes which are: Opportunity, Mobility, Sustainability. Opportunity Zone designed by AGi Architects, Mobility Zone by Foster and Partners, and Sustainability by Grimshaw Architects.
Dubai Expo has a spread of 438 hectares. It is located between the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The master plan of this Expo is by an American company HOR. The Central Plaza is the place for The Expo and named Al Wasl. Three large thematic districts surround Central Plaza. The districts are based on different sub-themes. Some of the highlights of the Dubai Expo are: Dubai has invested in real estate recently. Moreover, it has introduced the world’s largest Solar Power Project.
The sustainability district has a Hammour House. The Hammour House explores coral reefs.
The sustainability also has a district stage that seats 300.
Likewise, the mobility district includes the world’s largest passenger lift. It can carry more than 160 people.
The tourism and hospitality sector is always on toes to provide the best in class facilities. The hotels have upgraded their service to cater to the needs of a huge audience.
The Healthcare sector has equipped itself enough to provide immediate care and stability in the golden hour. Golden hour means care given in the first 60 minutes of an injury.
Sustainability Zone has a pavilion spread around 15.5 acres of land. The pavilion named Operanium is by Lithuania, designed by MB Baukas.
The Russian pavilion is 27 meters tall and covers more than 4500 sq m. The design of the Russian pavilion is done by Tchoban SPeech & Simpateka Entertainment.
Positives Of Expo 2020
Firstly, there are around 190 counties participating in Expo 2020. Secondly. this is the first time a middle eastern country is hosting this Expo. In the beginning, Dubai wanted to make the city the happiest by 2020. For this purpose, it initiated a program named Dubai Happiness Agenda. This agenda has 16 programs under 4 themes that sum up 82 projects to be set in the city. In addition, it has created a large opportunity for working individuals by creating many jobs. There is also a rise in GDP as predicted by the IMF.
The pandemic Covid 19 has posed a threat to this event which was to start in October 2020. The Geneva Council for Rights and Liberty warned against the exploitation of migrant workers. They argued that the workers were put to work even during the pandemic. But by winning all those hurdles the Dubai Expo was rescheduled.
In conclusion, the Dubai Expo has all the extravaganza to astonish the world in the year 2021- 2022.
